The graphic shows the range of temperatures in the Chicago area from near the lake (64-67) to inland (80-87). Yes some areas can see temps in the 80s with indexes in the 90s. Showers and thunderstorms are expected early this week. High temperatures will be in the 80s to near 90 away from the lake Monday, and heat indices will be around 90 south of I-80. Lakefront cooling is expected every day.

So inland like Highland for instance, will see high temperatures during the day ranging from 65 early morning to 77 in the afternoon with thunderstorms predicted in the morning, afternoon and evening hours. Tuesday in Highland expect temperatures to start the morning out in the mid 60s building to a high of 70s in the afternoon. There will be a high probability of rain and storms in the morning to early afternoon. Wednesday the low pressure area moves on out of the Chicago area like a bad relative that overstayed their welcome. Wednesday will make up for most of the weekend and beginning of the week. Sunny skies with temperatures in the lower 80s.

Hold on because some of the storms later today are predicted to be intense. Potentially heavy rain with flash floods and thunderstorms. Watch those low lying areas. “Turn around. Don’t Drown!”
