TuesdayMay1

Temperatures more typical of June will continue through Thursday. Tuesday will be very warm and windy, leading to elevated fire danger. Thunderstorm chances will begin to ramp up more substantially late Wednesday and continue at times through Thursday night. Rainfall totals of up to 1-2″ are possible, potentially along with a risk for stronger thunderstorms.

Warning

TuesdayMay1Redflag

Weather conditions will again be conducive to the rapid spread of fires today. A Red Flag Warning has been issued for this afternoon & early this evening for all of northern Illinois and northwest Indiana. Unseasonably warm temperatures, abnormally dry vegetation, and low relative humidity values will allow for explosive fire growth. Gusty southwest winds of 30 to 35 mph will quickly spread any fires that ignite. Avoid outdoor burning and use extreme caution with the disposal of smoking materials.
