A wintry mix including light freezing rain north of the I-88 corridor will become snow this afternoon. Rain across the rest of the forecast area will slowly transition to snow from northwest to southeast through this evening. Less than an inch of snow is expected through Monday morning. Warmer and drier conditions return Tuesday, but another system brings the possibility of more freezing rain across North-Central Illinois Tuesday night. Rain continues Wednesday.
Ok now we are headed towards normal weather and temperatures starting Tuesday. We will hit a high of 60 on Wednesday with accompanying rain then normalizing on Thursday with a high of 50 but a partly clear day. Both daytime and nighttime temperatures should remain above freezing after Thursday. Keep those heavier jackets handy until then. Mother nature is just reminding us who is in control. She loves getting a lot of social media time so why not pull a few wintry mixes out of her pocket.
