ThursdayMarch1
Rain is expected to spread across the area tonight through much of Thursday. Though the precipitation should remain mostly in the form of rain, there is the potential that the heaviest bursts of precipitation will fall in the form of extremely wet snow Thursday morning mainly north of I-80. Accumulations would generally be under an inch, but be prepared for a few slushy spots during the Thursday morning commute.
As you can see below, flood warnings still exist over many of our waterways in the Chicago area. With the threat of incoming rain, these waterways will rise above their critical state.  To note in Lake County Indiana, the Kankakee River to the south and Little Calumet River in the north will be the most likely to cause disruption to the bridges and overpasses. Please check with IDOT before you travel. Outside of these risks, the incoming precipitation with have a huge impact on the area.
With the transition of low to high pressure areas, we will experience some brisk winds in the area. Gusts from 30-40 mph. So hold on to your caps, wigs or whatever it is you put on that top of yours.
Look for sunny days and warming temperatures after this active weather pattern passes. Nice weekend in store. Rain to return on Monday and Tuesday of next week. So enjoy the weekend.
