weekend
Winter is taking a peak in the door and wants to come in. With a brief appearance of Fall it looks like we are going to head right into it. Friday our high will reach mid 30s to low 40s. The norm for this time of year is usually 50. But we are the Chicago/Region peeps are not normal. We are not only going to be unusually cold,  there is about 80% of a rain snow mixture. Our friends (yes they are friendly people shush) at the National Weather Service are calling for accumulations of up to an inch. Tonight a low of around 26 with winds out of the southeast at 5-10 mph. Saturday through Sunday mostly cloudy with a return of that much dreaded snow/rain wintry mix with daytime temperatures reaching the mid 30s and nighttime temperatures reaching lows of the mid 20 to high teens. So bring in the firewood, stoke up the fireplace, put on some Barry White music and snuggle with that special person or dog…(your preference but dogs don’t have cold hands and don’t get upset if you don’t listen to how their day went)…just sayin.
thurday night
Our much advertised sharp but quick blast of very COLD air for early to mid-November will continue as a strong Arctic front as it sweeps across the area through Friday. A gusty northwest wind will drive quickly falling temperatures into the coldest night/early morning of the season so far. Areas outside of downtown Chicago and away from the Indiana lakeshore will have lows in the lower teens to around 20 early Friday, with some typical cold spots in northern Illinois possibly dipping into the upper single digits. The lowest wind chill values to start Friday will range from the single digits below zero to the lower teens! Keep this in mind for when you dress your kids for school Friday morning. The very cold air mass will also likely result in lake effect snow showers for some areas near Lake Michigan late Thursday night into Friday morning. While significant snowfall is unlikely, a minor accumulation up to 1\” is possible in some locations near the lake from northwest Indiana to Chicago, particularly on grassy/colder surfaces. Some minor impacts are possible to the morning commute.
