Chester, Inc.

On Friday morning, September 1, 2017,  we visited with Pete Peuquet, President and CEO Chester, Inc and Rich Shields, Director of Marketing and Business Development, Chester Inc. at the Chester, Inc. headquarters.

Pete and Rich took us through the amazing history of Chester, Inc. from its infancy in the 40s under it’s original owner, George F. Chester operating under the name of George F. Chester & Sons Seed Co. We also learned about its transition under new owners, Charlie Bowman and Orville Redenbacher in the 50s to present day under it’s present President and CEO, Pete Preuquet.

Pete took us through the birth of the Orville Redenbacher Popcorn, which put Valparaiso on the map. He also shared with us how the first Popcorn Fest came to be as a collaboration between Chester, Inc and the Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce in 1979.

Chester, Inc is a diversified corporation consisting of several individual divisions, Architecture/Construction, Chester Technology, Development and Agriculture Products and Foods Division. Truly a company that has grown organically based on their customer’s need from a seed distributor in 1940.
